Al Jamia Al Islamia Mymensingh (also known as Jamia Islamia
Momenshahi) is a Qaumi madrasa located in Charpara, Mymensingh district. This
madrasa was established in 1942 under the leadership of Manjurul Haque and
Nawaz Ali with the cooperation of scholars and local individuals from the city
and suburbs. The madrasa land was donated by Rahmjan Khatun, wife of Nawaz Ali.
In the beginning the name of the madrasa was 'Darul Uloom'. In 1976, after
Ashraf Ali Thanveer Khalifa Athar Ali took over the patronage of the Madrasa,
the name of the Madrasa was changed to its current name. Faizur Rahman, Mia
Hossain and other scholars have played an important role in the progress of the
madrasa since its inception. The current director general of the madrasa is
Anwarul Haque.
